MrBeer, Witty Monk Refill Kit.   Just finished cooking and set in fermenter.  After the last kits bad yeast, this time I proofed the yeast in a 2 cup starter, so far it's working just fine!   The kit instructs to pitch yeast at 105 degrees.  I am pitching at 75 degrees.
These kits are really basic so I kicked it up a notch this time.   I boiled 1.5 pound of DME in 6 cups of water with the kits 4 pounds of LME.  These kits are designed to make 2 gallons of beer, 8.5 quarts of wort.  I have 9 quarts, extra volume from the starter and 1 pint extra boil water.
The Product lists this description:  ABV: 4.6%, SRM: 3, IBU: 18  Light Wheat Beer.
The DME I added was Briess Dark DME!  Color at beginning of fermentation is a deep amber!
Starting OG: 1.050  New IBU: 9.3  New SRM: 12.3  New (potential) ABV: 6.9%  (figures from beersmith calc.)
I'm picking up an order today at HB4L including some hops.  I may add a little to the fermenter!

I realized after some reading that a Wit beer is supposed to be white.  The DME I added was Dark.  After brewing I thought it smelled like it needed more hops due to the increase in size of the batch.  I should have at least dry hopped it.  Otherwise it is a drinkable Brown ale.  I guess I could make a hops "potion" and add a couple drops in the glass before pouring!

Opened up the last few bottles tonight. My how a little ageing can improve a beer. Actually tastes VERY close to the Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale. Good carbonation, nice body & mild hops. The high level of carbonation replaces the hop anticipation.  VERY drinkable.

I thought about the MR Beer kits for ease of use.  I heard they can turn out some decent product if you follow the instructions and sanitize properly.  May I should still do it.

They are really not much different from the brew kits sold at Homebrew4Less.  Blaine is getting a larger variety of kits once we get him moved into the NEW STORE!!!

Up the hill and across the street.  At the traffic light.  Used to be the "Knucklehead Motorcycle Shop".  We are helping Blaine on Sunday afternoon, weather pending Monday as well.  He will have 3 - 4 times the retail space and twice as much storage room!
