Below is information about a homebrew festival I heard about at Dills Tavern in Dillsburg on Saturday, September 10th, Noon - 5:00 pm. Contact information is provided for those who want to participate.
There is a one day festival that will highlight people who are brewing their own beer, wine and spirits. Emphasis will be placed on the history of these skills, ingredients, recipes, equipment, educational seminars and tasting the finished product. The event will be held at Dills Tavern (in Dillsburg), a restored 18th Century tavern and its two acres of ground. The tavern is owned by Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society (NYCHAPS). There will be music, food and 18th Century activities going on during the festival. The name of the event will be:
BALDERDASH
The History and Technology of Brewing Beer, Wine and Spirits
Balderdash was an 18th Century word meaning "to mix or adulterate liquor". A competition will be held lauding the best beverages and also the competitor with the best historical documentation behind his creation. Period dress is encouraged. We would like to alert all those interested in getting involved as a participant or as a spectator to contact us for more information. Everyone entering the grounds that day must be 21 years old.

traditionalbldr@comcast.netWHAT TO EXPECT
This is not meant to be a beer festival where you see how many 7 oz. beers you can drink in 4 hours. You will be disappointed, if that is what you are looking for. There may not be that much beer to sample, if homebrewers don't register to have their beer tasted.
What you CAN expect is:
1. Demonstrations of people making batches of beer.
2. Seminars on various beer topics, such as ingredients, techniques, etc.
3. Blacksmithing and woodworking demonstrations.
4. Open hearth cooking demonstrations and the bake oven being used.
5. Some music during the event.
6. Food for sale.
Someone who is interested in making beer should find the experience educational and fun.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
1. People that would like to talk about their beer experiences.
2. People that would like to demonstrate/sell equipment and ingredients.
3. People that would like to have their beer sampled.
There will be no charge to those involved with the event.
All other visitors will be charged $10.00 Admission. (A 5oz sampling glass is provided with your paid admission.)
BYOB for personal consumption is acceptable (please use good judgment).
