Has anyone made their own fruit grinder?  I have apple and pear trees coming of age to bear enough fruit to think about making juice.  I've seen a few home made units on line.  Does anyone have a "oldy but goody" home made unit you would recommend?

I seen this on craigslist http://frederick.craigslist.org/atq/2299514483.html

I also found this site. http://www.whizbangcider.com/2009/01/whizbang-cider-press-parts.html

And this http://www.ehow.com/how_7012758_build-own-cider-press.html

There is a lot of stuff on the net.

Thanks for the links Dave!

My son-in-laws family has a fruit press.  The whizBang kit looks interesting.  I picked up a Stainless Steel double sink during Spring Cleanup that I thought I would use with a garbage disposal.  Set this into a table 3' w x 5' l with a garden hose hooked up to the faucet.  One tub of the sink dumping into a cider bucket the other for washing fruit dumping out a PVC drain away from the operation.  A 4" rim around the table to keep fruit from rolling off the table so a bushel or 2 of fruit can be put on the table at a time.
I'm just a little concerned about chopping / grinding apple and pear seeds as they contain trace amounts of cyanide.

That sounds like a cool set up, and I bet it produces a lot of juice at one time.  I think at long as you just cube the fruit up to around one inch pieces it should work ok in the press.  I heard about the toxins in the seeds aswell.  As long you don not totally grind them up it should be fine.
