Probably more than I need!  LOL  Though a couple of the recipes I want to make call for 15 pounds of grain or more.
I guess the old "Boy Scout" always be prepared kinda hangs on me, not quite a hoarder, but I keep stocked up on consumables!  We have a couple of small garden patches, six fruit trees & berry bushes here and there, even a few grape vines.  My brother raises Black Angus a his place in WV.  We can and freeze meat, fruit & veggies and now beer!!  I have a cold cellar that could feed a large family for a year, LOL!

Well have fun at work, enjoy family & friends this holiday season!!

Cheers!  Pete

Octoberfest has really slowed.  I'll rack to a secondary fermenter today.
Issue with the Raspberry Pils, cover on fermenter blew off over night.  I racked to a secondary but I have no idea if it is ruined.

I'll check gravity on both this evening.  I saved the top layer of yeast/ trub from the bottom of the Raspberry Pils and added it to a jug of tun drain water(from the porter).  We'll see what happens.

Up-Date!  2 hours later - Raspberry Pils still working!

Filtered and kegged both today.  I had intended to bottle, but just not enough time.  Carbonated both with CO2.  Should be ready to sample Saturday

Sampled the Octoberfest: Maltier than expected, also a touch more bitter.  OG was 1.050, FG was 1.014, measured ABV 4.2 %. MrBeer advertises a 3.2% ABV with out the corn sugar booster pack.  Next batch I'll CUT the MrBeer to 2 kits, substitute 1 lb un-hopped DME for the 3rd kit and add 1 pack (12 oz) of the corn sugar booster.  I have not sampled the Raspberry Lager, but since the ingredients are the same with the exception of the raspberry pure, results will likely be close.  I may also make a kit strictly by MrBeer directions to compare.

Started that Chianti wine kit last night.  It did not take long for me and my wife once I got everything sanitized.  It was a very pretty purple grape juice.  It tasted pretty good before we even pitched the yeast.  Right now it is bubble away happily at 72 degrees in our fermenting room.  I can't wait to see how it turns out.

The lagering really seems to have helped the Octoberfest.  It has actually turned out quite well, Had a couple with lunch, nice beer!  I'll sample the Raspberry later tonight.

Still have not tried the Raspberry.  The Octoberfest is good, the advertised biscut taste is hidden by the extra malt of multiple kits.  As mentioned in my "Randall Infuser" post, the extra hops & porter really woke this beer up!!  I'm thinking about dry hopping the keg!

  Hmmmmmmmmmmmm?

The Octoberfest keg is about empty.  Time has been really good for this lager!  A few neighbors sampled the Octoberfest / Yuengling comparison.  The Octoberfest was preferred by all!

Cheers!
